When are you accepting students for the Extreme Plunge Volunteer Program (XPVP)?
We are always accepting applications, but we allow students to begin only after the application process has been completed, which is the first Tuesday of every month. We do not allow students to begin in the middle or at the end of a month.
How long is the XPVP Program?
The program is 1–6 months long. We do evaluations at 1 and 3 months to determine the participant’s length of stay in the program.
How long does the process of acceptance take?
Before the process of acceptance can begin, we must receive both your pastoral and personal recommendations, as well as your application fee. After ALL paperwork and the application fee are received, it should take 1–2 weeks to process your application.
How will I know when XPVP has received my application?
When we have received your application, we will send you a confirmation e-mail with a reminder of everything listed in Answer 3.
What is the age limit for the XPVP?
The age limit is 18 years old. We will take someone as young as 16 years old if a parent or legal guardian joins the program with them.
How many hours a week will I be serving?
You will serve approximately 24–36 hours per week.
Can I do the program on a part-time basis?
We are not accepting part-time applicants at this time. If you were to join now, you would need to participate fully in every scheduled activity.
Can you tell me a little about what to expect from the XPVP?
In the evangelism program, you will go out to do creative street evangelism at least 4 days per week. You will do ministry of helps one day a week and you will have a day of training and equipping, as well as participating in intercession. You will also serve at our conferences 1–2 times per month. At conferences, you will mostly do ministry of helps in resource, registration, CD duplication, ushering, set-up and teardown. The schedule will vary depending on the ministry schedule.
Are families allowed to join XPVP?
Families are welcome. However, if they want to be active in the program they must meet the age requirements and they have to be available for all the scheduled activities.
What would happen if I were unable to get a pastoral recommendation? What if I were unable to get recommendations at all?
If this happens, please write a letter of explanation and attach it to your application. We will pray about the situation and let you know by phone or e-mail what is decided.
What kind of expenses should I expect during the program?
Food: Since you will be out on the streets a lot, you will need to bring finances to eat out at least 4–5 times per week, unless you plan to pack a lunch (remember to bring a well-insulated food carrier, or the hot weather could cause your food to spoil). You are also responsible for meals out when you serve during conferences, unless you plan to pack your lunch and dinner. Please also plan for other little expenses 1–2 times per month, especially when we do coffee shop outreaches or restaurant evangelism.
You are responsible for purchasing your own food for where you are staying (unless you are paying for room and board). Bring enough to cover groceries for the length of time you plan to stay.
Lodging: If you plan to stay in ministry housing, it will cost you $400–$500 per month for room only, or $550–$700 room and board (please note, the room and board option is limited).
Also, plan to pay for expenses for hotel fees for events we hold that are not within a reasonable driving distance (usually 1–2 times per year). Please check the website www.xpmedia.com for a list of events. Events that are 3–5 days in length usually require hotel fees (except those held at Grace Inn, Holiday Inn, or in the city of Maricopa). The hotel fees will vary ($70–$150 per night). Since you are also responsible for the cost of your meals during the event, note that some hotels have rooms with full kitchens, which would cut down on food costs.
Offerings: Since you have the privilege of serving and participating in our awesome conferences, you will have many opportunities to sow into the glory. Please plan to bring seed to sow so you won’t miss any opportunity!
Other: Bring extra money for fellowship and entertainment on your time off. This is optional, but recommended. Consider in your finances that we have a great resource center where you can purchase products from our ministry as well as from many others worldwide. You will receive a 20%–30% discount on these items. Another thing to consider is that sometimes there are fees charged for manuals for conferences you are required to attend (up to $15, only once every 3 months). If you are interested in going to events hosted by Extreme Prophetic but held in other states, you will be responsible for all costs involved. Again, this is optional.
